Mitie wins triple gold in the Green Impact competition
Our Mitie Communities colleagues has won three awards in this year’s NUS Green Impact competition for contributing to sustainability at University College London Hospital (UCLH).
What is Green Impact?
Green Impact is a United Nations award-winning programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations.
This can mean anything from communicating recycling systems, to committing to go Fairtrade; from supporting team health and well-being campaigns, to working towards carbon-neutrality.
A Mitie win
Throughout the year, our teams were busy completing actions from the Green Impact programme’s online toolkit and uploading evidence to demonstrate the measures they’d taken.
Overall, the teams enacted 360 new measures, exceeding the target of 270 needed to attain the three gold awards! Their hard work paid off and the NUS auditing team verified the team’s success.
Environmental Heroes
As well as winning the three gold awards, two Mitie colleagues were named as Environmental Heroes.
Karl Winder and Martin Moore were recognised for their incredible dedication and hard work in supporting projects on sustainable theatre waste management and their commitment to continually spreading awareness about the importance of correct waste segregation on site.
We’re going the extra mile
These latest wins are just the latest examples of how committed Mitie is to improving sustainability and how seriously we take our responsibility to the environment.
Last month we won the Transport/Fleet Management Initiative of the Year award at the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards.
