Modern Slavery Act

What is the Modern Slavery Act?

According to legislation.gov.uk, The Modern Slavery Act 2015 is ‘An Act to make provision about slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour and about human trafficking, including provision for the protection of victims; to make provision for an Independent Anti-slavery Commissioner; and for connected purposes.’

Why does the Act matter to Mitie?

We recognise our responsibilities to society in relation to our supply chain. We actively engage with our suppliers to ensure that they share our values and comply with relevant legislation. We welcomed the introduction of the Act and the provisions within Section 54 covering supply chain transparency in the Home Office guide. We will not tolerate human trafficking, slavery or forced labour of any type.
