"I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship path"
Shani, Stores Person at Mitie, wanted a career change but thought apprenticeships were just for school leavers. Now she’s successfully using her skills and passion for engineering, and helping to keep hospitals running smoothly.
“Prior to working for Mitie, I worked in retail. I knew I wanted to change careers, but as a mum of six, I needed to find something that gave me the balance I needed.”

Through Mitie, Darren completed a diploma in Facilities Management. Now he’s FM Integration Manager at the most eco-friendly building in Wales.

Marcus had struggled to find a role that was right for him for some time. With the help and support of The Mitie Foundation, he’s now enjoying being part of the busy cleaning team at Birmingham New Street.

Beth needed a career change with the flexibility to work around her childcare duties. Through Mitie, she’s found the perfect fit in a part-time role as a contracts administrator for our client, an automotive manufacturer.
“My role at Mitie is very varied – no two days are the same, I get involved with a lot of finance work, payroll and quotes. I’ve learnt so much since I’ve been here.”

After years working in security, Elvedin needed a new challenge. Since joining Mitie, he has completed a management apprenticeship and rapidly progressed to the role of Operations Manager.
“I knew that I wanted to progress within the organisation and took the opportunity to complete a Level 3 Management Apprenticeship. It was tough – but I got there!”

Due to ill health, Jeffery had spent a lengthy period out of work. Now he’s a valued member of Mitie’s maintenance team, keeping a hospital spick-and-span, and has a renewed sense of purpose.
