Webinar: Demystifying carbon reporting

Watch the recording of our recent webinar for the insights you need to progress your carbon reporting journey.

The session aimed to clarify the confusion around carbon reporting legislation, what it means for organisations and how to turn the challenge into an opportunity.

945m ‘carbon reporting’ hits

Sustainability influencer and guest speaker, Jim McClelland, began by putting ‘Carbon in context.’

He highlighted that with 2030 net zero targets drawing closer, organisations are fast realising the extent of reporting obligations – as demonstrated by 945m hits for ‘carbon reporting’ on Google.

To get ahead, Jim recommended being proactive and starting carbon accounting now rather than waiting for legislation to make it mandatory.

Overcome barriers

Mitie’s Director, Head of Consulting and Energy Solutions, Alex Avila, went on to give a comprehensive summary of ‘Carbon reporting’s market trends, regulations and challenges.’

Acknowledging that many organisations face barriers to implementing their strategy, Alex underlined four major benefits of getting it right:

  • Cost savings of between 5 and 10%
  • Increased revenue with 10-20% faster growth and higher valuations
  • Improved capital
  • Better talent with 38% higher employee loyalty

Emissions Intelligence

Finally, Mitie’s Head of Data, Technology and Analytics, Catherine Wheatley, presented ‘The four-step roadmap unlocking the potential in your carbon data.’

Catherine emphasised crucial points for organisations across all sectors that want to progress their reporting:

  • Baseline your emissions
  • Account and report
  • Track and monitor
  • Strategise and optimise

Summing up, Catherine introduced Mitie’s new carbon reporting service, Emissions Intelligence, which simplifies carbon data collection, reporting and reduction.

Supported by Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud, the service puts customers in a stronger position to produce audit-grade reports, comply with current regulations and prepare for future legislation.
