Mitie launches new initiatives to support the armed forces community
- Mitie launches new dedicated careers portal specifically for veterans seeking a new career in facilities management
- Today marks inaugural meeting of Mitie’s new Armed Forces Network to support its military community
Mitie is furthering its commitment to veterans, reservists and families of those working in the armed forces, by launching a series of new initiatives focused on supporting these employees and pledging to recruit more individuals from the armed forces community.
As a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, Mitie has already committed to support those who currently serve or have served in the armed forces and already employs hundreds of veterans and reservists. To build on this commitment and encourage more individuals from this community to join the business, Mitie has launched a dedicated Armed Forces Careers Portal for those with a military background to explore potential career opportunities at Mitie.
Featuring advice and guidance, as well as veteran success stories and vacancies from around the country, the specialist portal was launched at the Career Transition Partnership’s Job Fair, being held today, Wednesday 24 July 2019, as part of the Invictus Games Team UK Trials in Sheffield. Mitie is attending the Fair for the first time to offer forces leavers a chance to learn about career opportunities at the company, as well as apply for vacancies on the spot.
Today also marks the launch of Mitie’s Armed Forces Network, for its employees who are veterans, reservists or family members of people in the forces. The network, which will hold its inaugural meeting today, has been created to allow these individuals a forum to share experiences and drive positive changes within the business to improve the experience for its forces community.
Charles Antelme DSO, Head of Defence, Mitie, said:
“This is just the beginning, but through these and other new initiatives, we are building on our Covenant commitments as we look to inspire more people with a military background to bring their specialist skills and expertise to Mitie. Whether you’re a veteran, reservist or relative, Mitie is committed to ensuring all our employees connected to the armed forces benefit from a supportive work environment in which to develop an exceptional second career.”
