Mitie’s stellar progress in ED&I secures Silver accreditation
- Mitie has been awarded the Inclusive Employers Standard Silver Accreditation
- The Standard measures organisations across six pillars of inclusion which must be met and evidenced to receive the accreditation
- The accreditation builds on Mitie’s recent flurry of awards in this area
Mitie has been awarded Silver Status by the Inclusive Employers Standard, an evidenced-based accreditation tool for inclusion and diversity, in recognition of its commitments to promote Equality Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) across its business.
In order to receive the accreditation, organisations must demonstrate how they are delivering against six pillars of inclusion and diversity: Engage, Equip, Empower, Embed, Evaluate and Evolve. Having been measured across all six pillars, Mitie has been recognised with silver status after its first submission. By seeking accreditation, Mitie is outlining its commitment to embedding ED&I in to the fabric of its business.
The accreditation is a reflection of Mitie’s significant investment in ED&I initiatives across its business, which include Count Me In (Mitie’s bespoke conscious inclusion learning programme), Giving Back (school volunteering scheme), and Ready2Work (work experience for those who have experienced barriers to employment).
As well as these programmes, Mitie also has six employee networks focused on supporting inclusion across the business, encouraging colleagues to engage and have conversations around diversity. These networks include CHORD (its race and ethnicity network), Mitie Military (its Armed Forces veterans, reservists and family members network), Mitie Women Can (its gender equality network), Parents and Carers, Proud to Be (its LGBTQ+ network) and Enable (its network dedicated to disability and neurodiversity related topics). Furthermore, Mitie has recently launched its Inclusion Allies programme, designed to empower colleagues to act as allies for different diverse groups and drive inclusion forward in the business.
Mitie has been recognised with several awards and accreditations for its diversity and inclusion initiatives as it continues its significant investment in this area. In October 2022 Mitie took home the silver award at the UK Social Mobility Awards (SOMOs) in the ‘Community Programme of the Year’ category for its school volunteering programme, ‘Giving Back’ and was recently named a Top 50 Inclusive UK employer for the fifth year running, ranking 17th.
Sim Sian, Head of ED&I, Mitie, said:
“Gaining the Inclusive Employers Standard Silver Accreditation is a huge achievement and highlights the great work we are doing to embed Equality, Diversity & Inclusion into our culture. We know our diversity makes us stronger, so we’re proud to have our position as a leading British business for ED&I recognised, as we continue our focus on ensuring Mitie is an inclusive business.”
